Roegadyn are generally built very large. Arengeim is no exception to this rule. Standing at seven feet and two inches tall with piercing yellow-green eyes, Arengeim certainly stands on the tall side--even amongst her fellow Roegadyn. Belonging to the tribe of Roegadyn known as the Hellsguard, Arengeim looks for all the part like an oversized Ala'mhigan between her darker skin and braided hair. Along with these defining features, Arengeim has several markings on her face that she claims to simply be traditional tattoos. Thanks to these markings as well as her general sense of style, she cuts a very imposing figure. Even before your attention is drawn to her muscles. A trained warrior from birth, Arengeim is not only physically fit, she could quite easily be described as being at the peak of fitness. Her figure is actually something she is quite proud of, as it somehow manages to walk that fine line between a masculine and feminine appearance.

As for her attire, Arengeim's wardrobe depends highly on her situation. When on official business, she has no qualms with donning the standard attire of the Immortal Flames. When not on official business her attire can swing wildly. Primarily she wears attire that is less restrictive, typically aiming for clothing that offers expanded freedom of movement for her legs as well as possessing little--if any--sleeves. The reason for this is unknown, but she claims that it's as simple as heat regulation. Some of her fellows have whispered that it might be as simple as wanting to show off the musculature she worked so hard for, but there is no real consensus on why she often leaves her arms so widely exposed. She is also noted for wearing a few pieces of jewelry, namely a pair of plain golden bangles wrapped around each of her upper arms.

These are the words that hang over the heads of every individual that calls Ul'Dah home. From the most destitute refugee to the wealthiest members of The Syndicate. While it is little more than the motto of Ul'Dah, those who live there would be certainly likely to claim that those words are more akin to the law of the land than a mere motto. The pursuit of Coin drives Ul'dah and it's citizenry far more fervently than any other country. This has given the general populace of the City-State a reputation for being callous and self-centered. However, this is a stereotype like any other.

There are individuals within the City-State that have a more open heart and mind. These individuals tend to be drawn towards a particular group. The Immortal Flames. So it was with Arengeim Nortyrnebbwyn. A bit of an odd woman, being a Hellsguard Roegadyn named in the way of the Sea Wolf Tribe. Unlike many Roegadyn, she was born and raised within the walls of the wealthiest City-State. For a fair part of her life, she was very much your average citizen. As she grew up however, she found herself being drawn more and more towards the crowds of the Coliseum--as well as the Gladiator's Guild. The matches themselves were exhilarating, keeping her attention rapt upon them from start to finish.

Unfortunately, she was too young. It wasn't until she turned sixteen in the year 1550 that things changed. Namely, she was not only old enough but large enough to be able to handle her own in the field of battle. She took to the teachings of the Gladiator's Guild like a fish to water. Her ability to pick up the intricacies of the Guild's method of combat was almost uncanny. So much so that she was given a reccomendation to join the city of Ul'Dah's grand company: The Immortal Flames. While work as a guild member and by extension an Adventurer wasn't something that disagreed with her, it wasn't exactly properly fulfilling work. Working as a member of the Flames was quite the opposite, however. The reason was simple. While Ul'Dah might have had its problems, it was her home. A home that she was proud of, and hoped to help improve. Unfortunately, changing a city-state's culture is a task so mountainous it might well be impossible. Working strictly within the bounds of the law slowly became more and more of a restriction that was suffocating. Eventually, she began to bend the rules. Working towards the spirit of the law rather than the letter of it.

It was this attitude that set Aregeim on a collision course with the individual who would forever change the path of their work as an Immortal Flame.

This individual was an older man. A Hyur with an odd weapon. The pair met each other while Arengeim was off on an individual mission. If you asked her what her assignment that day had been, she will tell you she honestly couldn't remember. The important part of that day was her meeting with that man, as well as the clash of steel and wills that happened almost immediately after. The whole situation remains in her mind as a blur.

By the end of that year, she had slowly shifted paths. Where once she had followed the path of the Gladiator--and was very close to finally crossing the line into the path of the Paladin--she had begun to walk a different path. The path of the Gunbreaker. Guided by the principles of the Immortal Flames as well as the tutelage of her new mentor, she found herself slowly settling into a role that felt genuinely better for her.

And then the Cataclysm happened.

Arengeim was hit hard. The Cataclysm itself claimed the life of her master, just as she was beginning to take her steps towards the more advanced teachings of Gunbreakers. Now? All she has is a journal of his. However, for as hard as Arengeim was hit on a personal level, Ul'dah was hit so much impossibly harder. Shaking the flow of commerce also wound up shaking something far more important: The faith of the common man. Important economic fixtures and resources fell apart or dried up.

And so the factions of the city--who had already been keeping an eye on each other--all lunged for the remaining resources of the city Simultaneously. The internal power struggles pulled in every direction, causing some collateral damage along the way. As a member of the Immortal Flames, Arengeim had been given a front row seat to the clashing. To see it from her eyes was to be disgusted by what was witnessed. Seeing every faction in her home act the same way, Arengeim surrendered her ranking among the Flames.

Having survived the cataclysm, she has taken up the role of Adventurer again. Her love for her home has not vanished. But she believes that she now stands in a better position to help her home recover from the consequences of the Cataclysm itself.
